Juvederm Volbella XC
Class: Hyaluronic acid-based soft tissue filler. Juvederm Volbella is a designer or site-specific filler.
Approved Cosmetic Uses: Increase lip fullness and soften the appearance of "smoker's lines" or “bar codes” around the lips in adults over the age of 21. Allergan manufactures Juvederm Volbella XC as well as the Juvederm family of fillers.
Mode of Action: Juvederm Volbella XC replenishes hyaluronic acid to boost volume. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in almost every cell in the body, but our supply dwindles as we age.
Results: Up to one year. Like sister product Juvederm Voluma XC, Juvederm Volbella XC is made with Vycross™ technology, a manufacturing process that results in a smoother gel that flows easily and consistently.
Side Effects: Swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness lumps/bumps, rednesss, pain, discoloration and itching at the treatment site. Most side effects are resolved within 30 days.
Cost: Not yet available.
Other Hyaluronic Acid-based Fillers:
Injection Pain (1-5 scale, with 5 being the most pain): 3
Juvederm Volbella contains lidocaine to take the edge off the injection pain.
Forecast: Bright. Thanks to advances in technology and technique, full lips are trending and “trout pout” is a thing of the past. Juvederm Volbella XC will be available in October 2016.
