Juvederm Voluma XC
Class: Hyaluronic acid-based soft tissue filler.
Approved Cosmetic Uses: Correction of age-related volume loss in the cheek area in adults over the age of 21. It is the only filler that is FDA approved specifically for this use. Allergan manufactures Juvederm Voluma XC as well as the Juvederm family of fillers.
Mode of Action: Juvederm Voluma XC helps restore and replenish hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that improves skin elasticity. It is found naturally in almost every cell in the body, and our supply dwindles with advancing age.
Results: Up to two years. Juvederm Voluma XC is made with VYCROSS™ technology, a manufacturing process that results in a smoother gel that flows easily and consistently. This aids in the lifting of the cheeks, and extends the duration of the results.
Side Effects: Temporary injection-site tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. Juvederm Voluma XC side effects are moderate (uncomfortable) and can last for two to four weeks.
Cost: Juvederm Voluma XC cost information is not yet available. Stay tuned.

- Perlane
- Juvederm
- Restylane
- Prevelle Silk
- Captique
- Hylaform

Injection Pain (1-5 scale, with 5 being the most pain): 2
Juvederm Voluma XC contains a small amount of the numbing agent lidocaine to take the edge off the injection pain. This is a big help!
Forecast: Bright. Juvederm Voluma XC may be the next best thing for adding volume to larger areas of the face (not just lines and folds).
